126 in fray for LADC polls in Mizoram

AIZAWL, May 5 ? Altogether 126 candidates were in the fray yesterday, the last date for filing nominations, for the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) elections to be held on May 16, district council affairs department officials said, reports PTI. The last date for withdrawl is May 7, officials said. While the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) will contest all the 23 seats of the LADC, the opposition Congress has fielded candidates in 21 constituencies. Lai People?s Party (LPP) has contested 14 seats, the BJP 12 and Mizoram People?s Conference seven, besides there are 46 Independents. LADC is the largest among the three autonomous district councils in the State.
