2 scam accused shot, another freed by KYKL (O)

Imphal, January 13: Associate Professor of Manipur University Computer Science Department, Oinam Imocha of Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai and Head of MU Computer Centre and System Manager, Moirangthem Jugeshwor of Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak Nongmaithem Leikai were shot on their legs by the proscribed KYKL (O) at CI College road at around 6.30 this evening on the charges of corruption, manipulation and tampering of marks in the University. Imocha allegedly took bribe for admission for the MCA course. Jugeshwor was involved in tampering of marks. Both of them surrendered to the party respectively on January 12 and 10, the party said. A party spokesman told reporters earlier today that the two were directly involved in corruption, manipulation and tampering of marks in the university. ?Capital punishment? was spared as both of then confessed their crimes and surrendered to the party, he added. According to the spokesman, Jugeshwor was directly responsible for the present mark tampering row. He changed the marks of one Oinam Solomon of Sayang Kuraomakhong for admission in the MCA course. Marks of two more students were also increased 12 years back. Imocha confessed that he took Rs 10,000 from one Biro, a lecturer of Moirang College for his daughter Bembem?s admission to MCA course, 1999-2000. He also took Rs 8,000 from an employee of CCpur branch Motor Vehicles for the admission of Khwairakpam Ranjit of Thanga Ngaram to the MCA course. He however claimed to have returned Rs 6,000. The KYKL (O) released S Rajmani, Examination controller in-charge from its custody as he was found not guilty. The party claimed to have identified three examiners who ?usually? manipulated marks. The spokesman warned them to surrender to the outfit or else they would be given capital punishment. The examiners are Assistant Professor Ksh Khoidong English Department MU, S Kullachandra, residing inside DM College of Commerce campus and P Ibochouba Imphal College English department. Under its Operation New Kangleipak (ONK), the KYKL (O) has been keeping a sharp vigil on all educational establishment and cases of corruption. The operation mainly covers the Education Secretariat, Directorate of Education (S) and (U) and also the Manipur University. He expressed his happiness that the MU students have disclosed cases of corruption in the university while the party has been spearheading its ONK for ushering in a ?New Kangleipak?. He appreciated the students for enabling the outfit to enhance its operation. The spokesman also declared that the outfit will not be in any position to spare the life of the university VC Prof H Tombi if found guilty. It also warned Manihar to surrender to the party within the deadline given by it. It may be mentioned that KYKL (O) since launching its ONK had also earlier abducted and later shot former Education School Director A Shamungou at his leg on the charge of bribery in the cases of appointment.
