27 Tripura ultras lay down arms

AGARTALA, April 4: Twenty-seven insurgents of Borok National Council of Tripura surrendered unconditionally to the police at Longtarai valley subdivision in Dhalai district on Tuesday, reports PTI. Police said the ultras, led by one Dilip Debbarma, a self-styled area commander of the outfit, surrendered to the sub-divisional police officer of Longtarai valley at Manu police station and deposited ten countrymade guns and two pistols. The ultras surrendered responding to the call of the government to shun the path of violence and return to normal life, police said. The militants would be rehabilitated under a Union government scheme and would undergo various vocational training. Earlier 36 insurgents of the same outfit had surrendered to the police in Dhalai district on March 27.
