JAMUGURIHAT, June 22? Three businessmen were killed by militants belonging to the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) at Yogibeel near Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border under Rangapara police station at around 9 p.m. yesterday. According to information available, five NDFB militants in Army fatigue, armed with AK 47 rifles and 9 mm pistols, came to Yogibeel area on foot and picked up Jiten Boro (30), general secretary of the Yogibeel business committee from his residence. They also picked up two other businessmen from the area-Zarman Daimary and Saman Basumatary and asked them about the demand given earlier for an amount of Rs five lakh. The ultras later shot them dead from point-blank range. The superintendent of Police, Sonitpur district, Sri Anurag Tankha and senior Army officers rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. AK-47 and nine mm cartidges were recovered from the spot.
