Imphal, May 13: Personnel of the 7 MR today asserted that they are not unwilling to shift from the Khabeisoi location to Taphou but said there should be some justification behind their transfer. Charging that they were treated like unwanted elements by the State forces yesterday, the jawans said the matter could have been negotiated peacefully without the combined force swooping down at their Bn campus for their forced removal. They said that five women of the Family Line were hospitalized after they fainted at the actions of the combined force. The Bn campus was found surrounded by the combined force when the 7 MR jawans were holding a meeting with the Bn CO on the order for the shifting. Such actions should be checked, they said. A statement issued by the jawans demanded that the orders for canceling the shifting of 1 MR to Taphou and 7 MR to the 1 MR campus be made known to them. Maintaining that 1 MR shifting was held up after the jawans agitated, they questioned why they should be shifted when the 1 MR was retained. The 3 IRB personnel currently undergoing training at MPTS at Pangei were recruited under an order for using them in guarding the NH 39. Under what conditions, the orders for keeping 3 IRB at Khabeisoi and moving 7 MR to Taphou were made, the statement charged. Seeking a proper explanation on the mentioned points from the authority concerned, the jawans said they will shift only after getting the clarification. The statement also condemned the alleged action of police commandos who threatened with dire consequences if anybody was found reconnecting the line of the power transformer disconnected by them at Chairenthong. It amounts to issuing a challenge and the commandos should issue a clarification, it added.
