ITANAGAR, January 19: Life was affected in Arunachal Pradesh following a 12-hour bandh called by the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union on Friday, reports UNI. Shops and business establishments remained closed and all modes of private transport were off the roads. However, government-owned transport buses plied on the roads with police escort, State Transport Superintendent said. He said all long distance State transport buses left Itanagar for their respective destinations early in the morning. The services of the Vayudoot were not affected. Attendances in all State government offices, including the State Civil Secretariat was stated to be 'normal'. Attendance was, however, thin in banks and post offices. There was no report of any untoward incident. The AAPSU had called the bandh in support of their charter of demands which include Rs 100 crore additional fund allocation for education department, 100 per cent job reservation for schedule tribes and reduction in sales tax, among others. The State government had appealed to the AAPSU to reconsider their demands.
