ITANAGAR, January 22: The ruling Congress(I) Government and the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union are heading for a major showdown with the later determined to go ahead with its second phase of 36-hour Arunachal bandh on January 24 and 25 against the lackadaisical attitude of the Government to resolve the union's various charter of demands as per an agreement reached between the State Government and the students body on October 2. Both the sides seems to have hardened their stands. The students are determined and they were preparing for what they call "fight out till our goal is achieved". "We have made our preparations and also issued directives to all our district units to make the remaining two phases of Arunachal bandh successful," AAPSU president Nabam Jallow said. Information Minister Takam Sanjoy described the decision as "unfortunate and uncalled for" saying the move was against the agreement signed between the State Government and the students body on October 2, last year. "Breach of do's and don'ts between the Government and the AAPSU is a breach of loss of confidence on the agreement and assurance given by the students community through AAPSU," the minister said. "It is not the AAPSU who had breached the agreement," AAPSU president Jallow said, adding, "we have given them more than two months time. What the Government was doing? Why should they talk the other way round? He added "State Government has failed to resolve the five points union charter of demands as per our agreement with them. AAPSU had observed a 12-hour capital bandh on January 19 and this has emboldened our morale," he said, adding "we'll go ahead with our agitation and there is no point of rolling back."
