RANGIYA, Jan 18 ? Promod Baro, president All Bodo Students? Union (ABSU), Kamrup District Committee and Pabitra Kumar Baro, commander, Bodo Liberation Tiger (BLT), Kamrup District Committee, in a joint statement issued to the press here expressed great resentment over the activities carried out by Sanmilita Jana-Gosthiya Sangram Parishad and ARMCA against their peaceful movement for solution of the Bodo problem. The AMRCA accused ABSU and BLT of kidnapping one Mantu Das and Sri Shyam Charan Das of Jokmari village in Nalbari district. Both ABSU and BLT said that they were not involved in any kidnapping cases within their jurisdiction. The anti-tribal movement led by Hareswar Barman, Brajen Mahanta, Phani Medhi and others is illegal and it has hampered their peaceful movement which was launched for their own existence within the purview of the Indian Constitution, the statement further added.
Meanwhile, the Sanmilita Jana-Gosthiya Sangram Parishad organised a protest meeting at Rangiya on January 5 and vehemently opposed the proposed move to create BTC, which it said, will lead to a feeling of insecurity among non-tribal people living in the area since time immemorable. The meeting addressed by several people including Hareswar Barman, Brajen Mahanta, Phani Medhi, Tridippati Sinha, Robson Munda, etc, strongly demanded rescue of the kidnapped persons, Mantu Das and his father Shyam Charan Das dead or alive within 15 days. If the administration failed to trace out the victims, the Sangram Parishad will take its own course to find out the victims. Ajit Rajbongshi presided over the protest meeting held in Raijmel Bhawan premises.
