UDALGURI, March 18: The forthcoming Assembly election in the State is appearing to be an uncertain proposition for the veteran State politicians belonging to various political parties following the direct support of different students' organisations to their respective Independent candidates. In the recent political development, it is seen that the students organisations, though they are leaving no opportunity to claim themselves as 'non-political' outfits are found in direct 'wait and see' political negotiations with 'like-minded' parties. And in the same vein the political parties - both national and regional - have also begun to approach the 'non-political' student organisations with negotiable friendly attitude. In and outside the Bodoland Autonomous Council (BAC) region, the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has geared up its process of screening and finalising the Independent candidates for as many as 31 Assembly segments of the State and the ABSU hopes that their Independent candidates may win in about 20 to 25 segments. The following are the constituencies to be contested by ABSU-supported Independent candidates : (1) Gossaigaon, (2) Kokrajhar (East), (3) Kokrajhar (West), (4) Sidli, (5) Bijni, (6) Bhavanipur, (7) Barama, (8) Tamulpur, (9) Paneri, (10) Kalaigaon, (11) Udalguri, (12) Mazbat, (13) Satia, (14) Dudhnoi, (15) Jonai, (16) Gohpur, (17) Rangiya, (18) Barsola, (19) Dhekiajuli, (20) Baithalangsu, (21) Bongaigaon, (22) Gauripur, (23) Sarbhog, (24) Golaghat, (25) Sarupathar, (26) Dispur, (27) Jalukbari, (28) Diphu, (29) Bokajan, (30) Howraghat and (31) Chapaguri.
