GUWAHATI, Feb 6 - The list of the regional Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) central executive committee members is yet to be finalised. The constitution of the party has provided for a central executive committee of 106 members. The latest Tezpur conference of the party had authorised party president Brindaban Goswami to constitute the executive committee.
According to party sources here today, the list will be declared in two phases. The first part of the list will be finalised this night, while the second part will be finalised after consulting the party steering committee, being formed in the first meeting of the executive committee. The first meeting of the executive committee is scheduled for the second week of the current month, the sources said.
The first part of the list will include the names of the party office bearers like the vice presidents (eleven numbers), the general secretaries (seven), the organising secretaries (ten), the joint secretaries (seven) and some executive members to be selected from amongst the general house members of the party. This list will be announced tomorrow, the sources said.
About the second part of the list, sources said that it would include the names of the executive members selected/ nominated from amongst the ex-administrators, ex-Army officers, jurists, physicians, teachers and social workers, among others. Discussion on nominating the best persons under these criteria is on, the sources said.
It is worth mentioning here that the party constitution has authorised the party president to nominate ten leading persons from among these professionals in consultation with the party steering committee. Efforts are also on to provide adequate representation to all castes, communities, localities and all sections, - i.e., weaker etc, of the people in the executive committee, said the sources, adding, new faces and experienced ones would also be tried to be accommodated in the committee.

The former general secretaries of the party Biren Baishya, Chandra Mohan Ptowary, Phani Bhusan Choudhury and Hitendranath Goswami are likely to be retained in the same capacity, while the induction of Dilip Saikia and Sarbanada Sonowal as the two other general secretaries of the party is almost a likelihood and discussion for selecting the other general secretary is also on, the sources said.
Meanwhile, AGP?s Mahila Parishad president Rekha Rani Das Boro, AGP Guwahati district committee president Kamala Kalita and AGP city unit president Ramendranarayan Kalita have been asked by the party president to quit their posts so as to facilitate their induction in the new central executive committee of the party.
