IMPHAL, April 15: The All Manipur Students Union, AMSU has decided to appeal to the concerned authorities and others to make it possible for Catholic schools based in the valley to reopen immediately in the interest of the students. This was one of the resolutions adopted at a meting between AMSU and guardians of students studying in the Catholic schools in the valley of the state today at the conference hall of DM College of Arts from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm in connection with the suspension of regular classes in eight Catholic schools. A statement issued by the general secretary, AMSU H/Q, after the meeting, appealed to the authorities of the Catholic schools, general public and all the revolutionary parties of Manipur that the Catholic Schools which are now closed due to some concealed circumstances, should be allowed to open as soon as possible keeping paramount consideration of the welfare of the students studying in them. The estimated 15,000 students of these schools should not be made the scapegoat in any tussle between any groups it added. Earlier, the meeting was presided by the Union's vice president l. Tejmani and chaired by its general secretary Y Premananda as the chief guest. About 300 guardians of students of these schools took part in the meeting. The meeting also resolved to have next meeting on April 22 next to discuss the progress of today's resolutions at the same venue and at the same time. During the meeting guardians of children in Little Flowers, Nirmalabas, St. Joshep, two Don Bosco, St. George, Catholic, Christ Joti had urged the AMSU to save the academic career of their children in the face of the present crisis.
