AGARTALA, May 8 ? Arrested Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) leader Mebar Kumar Jamatia, has confessed that he and kidnapped assistant general secretary of the party, Sridam Debbarma, went to a West Tripura village for a secret meeting with the banned Nationalist Liberation Front of Tripura on Friday, reports PTI. Jamatia said during interrogation that he was released by the NLFT the same day, but the insurgents took away Debbarma, police sources said on Tuesday. Jamati is in police remand for five days in connection with the kidnap of Debbarma, also an executive member of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous district Council (TTAADC), from Gurudayal Para in West Tripura district. The sources said that Jamatia?s interrogation was continuing as also the search for Debbarma. Meanwhile, chief executive member of TTAADC Kripa Mohan Reang Tuesday demanded full fledged security cover for members following the abduction. Reang said that TTAADC members had be to visit their constituencies in remote areas under the Council where insurgents were active. Taking advantage of the absence of security, insurgents had kidnapped Debbarma, he said.
