ITANAGAR, April 30: The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet has decided to move the Supreme Court against the Assam Government for violations of "status-quo" in the borders areas by carrying out repeated evictions of dwelling houses of innocent Arunachalis living in adjoining areas of Assam by its police and forest officials in the pretext of border row. The decision to this effect was taken in a cabinet meeting held here today under the chairmanship of state Chief Minister Mukut Mithi. The Cabinet has decided to move the country's apex Court against the Assam Government for repeated violation of "status-quo" between the two States for the last few decades," Government spokesman Takam Sanjoy, who is also the Minister incharge Information and Public Relations, told media men here today just after the Cabinet meeting. The minister alleged that on April 5 this year, the Assam forest and police officials carried out evictions at Belo village under Kimin administrative circle of Papum Pare district of Arunachal bordering Assam's North Lakhimpur districts. He also charged the Assam Government officials of razing more than 40 houses to ground besides taking away domestic animals and other valuable assets of the local people. Stating that the Cabinet has taken strong exceptions of the evictions of dwelling houses of the Arunachalis along the Assam-Arunachal border, the Government spokesman disclosed that the Cabinet has appealed to the Assam government to maintain "status quo" till the Supreme Court disposes of the border row tangle between both the States.
