GUWAHATI, Jan 12— The State Government would receive a total fund and foodgrains of Rs 630.10 crore under the new centrally sponsored scheme, the ‘Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY), an official release stated. This was disclosed by a senior official of Union Ministry of Rural Development who too part in a discussion held with the Project Director, DRDA of the State regarding implementation of Rural Development schemes in the state through Panchayati Raj Institutions organised at SIRD today.
According to sources, the break of the total allocation would be Rs 134.91 crore under the EAS and Rs 134.95 crore under the JGSY (Jawahar Gram Samridhi Yojana) and foodgrains worth Rs 179.88 crore and Rs 180.36 crore, under the EAS and the JGSY respectively. In this regard it can be mentioned that Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) involving an annual expenditure of Rs 10,000 crore, for the whole country as two other schemes viz EAS and JGSY have been merged with the SGRY will continue during the current year as a part of SGRY as these schemes will stand fully integrated from the next financial year (2002-2003). Participating in the discussion, Dr Bhumidhar Barman, Minister P & R D, Assam emphasised the need for successful implementation of RD schemes as Panchayat System has been revitalised with holding of Panchayat Election recently in the State.
