KOKRAJHAR, April 5— The All Bodo Student’s Union (ABSU) has asked BDLP chief whip Biswajit Daimary to step down from the party’s chief whip for violating the discipline of the party and ABSU in the last Rajya Sabha elections where two Bodo MLAs indirectly voted for Congress. ABSU President Rabiram Narzary in a press conference held at ‘Bodofa House’, Baganshali on Friday said that the ABSU has held discussion with the BDLP MLAs yesterday and decided to oust Biswajit Daimary from his party post while another MLA of 31-Sidli Matindra Basumatary who also intentionally made the goof up in the direction would also force ‘disciplinary action’, Narzary said.
The ABSU president said that the democratic organisations of the CCBPO had decided to extend support to AGP candidate Birendra Prasad Baishya in the last RS election but the two BDLP MLAs voted for Congress candidate, Anowara Taimur by violating the party’s command. Narzary said ‘All these drama happened due to ‘blockmailing’ politics of the Congress and we condemn such horse trading’ politics of the Congress’. He also said that the two BDLP MLAs have been asked to keep themselves away from any sort of political exercise in the ensuing Parliamentary elections. They cannot take part in any role in the election as a ‘disciplinary action’ from the party. Narzary said that they cannot take action against the BTC chief Hagrama Mahilary as he is not under the jurisdiction of ABSU. Narzary also said that the ten Bodo MLAs will work under the guidelines of ABSU and BDLP as before. He clarified that the rift between BDLP and BTC administration has been solved and they will work together for peace and development. Rajya Sabha MP UG Brahma said “We have authentic reports that BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary has asked the ABSU and BDLP leaders not to take stern action against the MLA duo but taking action on the two Bodo MLAs is justified as they have elected under the banner of ABSU. The ABSU president said that the democratic organisation has selected MLA Hemendra Nath Brahma the new chief as whip of the BDLP.
