GUWAHATI, March 13: The Union Minister of State for Water Resources and State BJP leader, Bijoya Chakraborty today hinted that the party may forge an alliance with ABSU and ASDC (HoliRAM faction) in the ensuing Assembly election. Addressing a press conference at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International airport immediately after her arrival from New Delhi, Chakraborty said that party had already initiated parleys with the leadership of both ABSU and ASDC (Holi-faction) and a 'clear picture' would emerge soon. She, however ruled out possibility of any alliance with the Trinamool Gana Parishad (TGP). "Instead of TGP, we have chosen ABSU and ASDC (Holi-faction) for their strong political base in various pockets of the State", she added. On alliance with the AGP, Chakraborty clarified that BJP leadership had taken the decision following an indepth study on political situation of the State. "Our leadership is convinced that AGP is losing its mass base and moreover the leaders are of the view that anti-incumbancy factor is likely to play a major role in the coming election", she informed. In this context, Chakraborty revealed that Advani was infavour of alliance with the AGP to prevent Congress from coming to power. "We will get absolute majority in the election as people of the State are disappointed with the policies of AGP and Congress", she added. Asked about her rift with the party president Rajen Gohain, she said, since election is on the cards, we are united to dethrone AGP from power. Moreover, their is no question of any rift among the members". Though the Union Minister ruled out any rift with the president, it is learnt that, she held a close door meeting with the BJP MLAs at the Old MLA hostel, Dispur to finalise the candidates for the election. The marathon meeting was also attended by some members of anti-Gohain group.
