SHILLONG, Jan 4 — Meghalaya government has appointed additional chief secretary J Tayeng as the chief secretary after the recent transfer of the erstwhile incumbent JP Singh, who was a part in the MoU for the controversial Meghalaya House deal in Kolkata, official sources said Friday, reports PTI. The Meghalaya House deal had brought down the EK Mawlong government in his State in the first week of December. Singh has now been appointed as the chairman, Board of Revenue and Administrative Reforms, a post earlier held by Tayeng. He will continue to hold posts as chairman, Meghalaya Transport Appellate Tribunal and Agricultural Production Commissioner, he sources said. Following the bureaucratic reshuffle SK Tiwari, principal secretary to the governor, who also held charge of weight and measures, industries, mining and geology, district council affairs, has been divested of the charges of mining, geology and industries departments, they said. SS Gupta, commissioner and secretary, social welfare, home, border area development and trade (including border trade) will also function as commissioner and secretary to the mining and geology departments now, they said. HK Mazhari, commissioner and secretary to secretariat administration, tourism and public health engineering will no longer hold the charge of commissioner and secretary to PHE. He has been give the additional charge of commissioner and secretary of urban affairs, they said. AK Bhatta will look after as commissioner and secretary to PHE besides holding the posts of commissioner and secretary of transport, planning, programme implementation, information and technology and general administrative department.
