By-election schedule for Kshetrigao announced

IMPHAL, April 16: The Election Department has prepared all the formalities of conducting the by-election of the Kshetrigao assembly constituency on May 11 next. The seat for the constituency has been lying vacant following the sudden demise of MLA Wangkhem Basantakumar on January 26 this year in a New Delhi hospital. The Chief Electoral Officer of the state in a press release issued today notified that the last date of filing nomination is April 24 while the scrutiny of nominations will be held the next day. Besides the withdrawal of nomination papers will be April 27, it added. While the date of by-poll has been fixed on May 11, the counting of votes will start from May 13 next and May 18 has been fixed for the completion of the election process. The SDO Porompat will be the Returning Officer of the by-election and intending candidates are requested to obtain nomination forms and other relevant information from the SDO, Porompat office. The office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur also appealed to the people to cooperate and extend help to ensuring smooth and timely conduct of the by-election in the Kshetrigao assembly constituency.
