Cells to probe sexual harrassment charges

KOHIMA, March 13: The Nagaland Government has constituted complaint cells for sexual harrassment of women at their work places in accordance with guidelines and norms prescribed by the Supreme Court, reports PTI. The Complaints Committee, formed with Power and Higher and Technical Education Secretary, B Jamir, as chairperson, will now prepare annual report and submit the same to Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms detailing the complaints made to it and actions taken thereof, an official notification said here on March 12. Any woman government employee, who becomes the victim of sexual harrassment at her workplace, can approach the committee through its member-secretary and seek redressal. The committee can adopt its own procedure of functioning, the notification said. The state government has recently amended the Nagaland Government Servants Conduct Rules to include the prohibition of sexual harrassment of working women, it said. The new rule inserted in the amended Government Servants' Conduct rules reads that no government servant shall indulge in any act of sexual harrassment of any woman at her workplace.
