GUWAHATI, May 9 ? Under the Central Sector Scheme on Movement of Seeds to the north eastern States, 100 per cent difference between road and rail transportation charges is made to implementing agencies for the movement of seeds produced outside the States to the State capitals or district headquarters, stated a release. Further, for transportation of seeds within the State from the State Capitals or district headquarters to sale counter or sale outlet is also reimbursed on actual basis subject to maximum limit of Rs 60 per quintal whichever is less to implementing agencies designated by State Governments. In 2001-2002, a sum of Rs 32,80,000 has been reimbursed exclusively for the benefit of the NE States upto December 31, 01. It also stated that the Scheme of Macro Management in Agriculture was devised by integrating 27 identified centrally sponsored schemes and approved on October 4, 2000. The Scheme is aimed at all-round development in agriculture through Work Plan prepared by the States, and to accord greater flexibility to State Governments to develop and pursue activities on the basis of regional priorities. The outlay of the Work Plan would be shared by the Centre and the States in the ratio 90:10. In the case of the north-eastern States, the entire expenditure is borne by the Government of India. Central assistance for the Work Plans will be in the ratio of 80 per cent by Grants and 20 per cent by loans. During the year 2001-2002, an amount of Rs 85,00,000 was provided for implementation of the scheme, the release added.
