Chaoba lodges FIR against Nipamacha for alleged forgery

IMPHAL, April 20: Union minister of state Thounaojam Chaoba, today lodged a First Information Report, FIR against his erstwhile comrade-in-arms and former state Chief Minister Wahengbam Nipamacha and two others at the Parliament street police station in New Delhi on charges of forgery of signatures and fabrication of affidavits in the name of six MLAs belonging to the Chaoba group. In the FIR, copies of which was made available to the press, Chaoba charged that former Chief Minister Wahengbam Nipamacha, G Joykumar Sharma, and P Achou Singh had colluded and forged the signatures of six MLAs supporting him on affidavits submitted to the Election Commission in connection with the ongoing dispute over the MSCP presidentship. The six MLAs in question are N Zatawn, Md Allaudin, Y Jiten Singh, N Bihari Singh, Onjamang Haokip and Z Mangaibou. Chaoba stated that one of the six MLA's N Zatawn is now in New Delhi, and had yesterday testified before the Election Commission that his signature had been forged by W Nipamacha Singh and his group. Chaoba also reportedly appended written complaints from Zatawn and the other five MLAs to the FIR. Chaoba charged that it has become the regular practice of Nipamacha, Joykumar and P Achou to indulge in such criminal acts 'for-unlawful gains and political benefits' and sought initiation of criminal proceedings under the appropriate legal provisions against the three persons. Mention may be made here that the affidavits in question were supposedly sworn before a notary public at New Delhi on April 2, April 6, April 8 and April 9. However, Jiten, N Bihari, Md Allaudin and Z Mangaibou told a press meet here in Imphal that none of them were even in Delhi on these dates.
