GUWAHATI, February 18: For the past few years, the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has been carrying out a cyber war against the Government by propagating its views through the internet, and now it is the turn of the Assam Police to hit out against the militant outfit through the net. In its newly-launched website, the Assam Police issued a list of wanted persons and ULFA commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah topped that list of wanted persons. The list also includes the names of ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, general secretary Anup Chetia, foreign secretary Sasha Choudhury and the chairman of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) Ranjan Daimary. The police gave details of the militant leaders including physical features and cases against them. According to the Assam Police, the ULFA commander-in-chief is also known as Paban Baruah, Pradip and Nur-uz-Zaman. He frequently travels to countries like Bangladesh, Myanmar, Bhutan, Thailand, Pakistan and China. He can speak different languages like Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, English, Naga and Chingfou. He travels on a forged passport and identity card. He obtained arms and guerilla training under the ISI of Pakistan, KIA and the NSCN and he can handle all kinds of weapons. As a member of the terrorist organisation, he procured weapons, ammunition, explosives and communication devices with the money illegally obtained by the organisation and the maximum penalty possible against him is death penalty, the Assam Police said. According to police, Paresh Baruah was involved in the bank dacoity in Silpukhuri in 1985, in which the bank manager was gunned down and is connected with foreign agents inimical to India. He ordered and approved a number of killings and kidnappings. The website also gave a detailed account of the physical features of Paresh Baruah along with a photograph. According to the Assam Police website, the ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, alias Rajib Rajkonwar alias Sir can speak different languages like Assamese, Bengali, English, Naga and Kachin and the places likely to be visited by him with forged passports include Bangladesh, Myanmar, Bhutan, Thailand, Pakistan and Nepal. He was trained under the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) and he can handle all kinds of weapons. As the chairman of the ULFA, he ordered and approved killings, kidnappings, extortions, etc, and was involved in trans-border arms-running. He is also the vice-chairman of the Indo-Burma Revolutionary Front. The website also provides a detailed account of the cases pending against the ULFA chairman and his physical features. Compared to the ULFA leaders, the chairman of the NDFB Ranjan Daimary is a well-educated man with an MA in Political Science. He can speak Boro, English, Assamese, Hindi and Bengali and can handle all kinds of weapons. Daimary travels to countries like Bangladesh, Myamar, Bhutan and Thailand on forged passports. He was involved in the blast in Darrang in 1995, which resulted in the death of several policemen in 1995. The police said that Ranjan, who is also known as Nabla Doimari and DR Nabla, conspired with the NSCN and other like-minded extremist outfits of the NE region to secede Assam and NE region from India. He ordered and approved killings and kidnappings. He also ordered attacks on police. He established links with foreign agencies inimical to India and procured sophisticated weapons, explosives and modern communication devices, the website describes. The Assam Police has also alerted the Interpol for the arrest of the leaders of the militant outfits.
