DC's wife appeals for the safe release of her husband

Imphal, March 24: Yambem ongbi Niroda, the distraught wife of the abducted official Y Thamkishore has fervently appealed to the gunmen who abducted her husband to release him safely and without any harm. Niroda who has been in Chandel since her husband was whisked away by the gunmen returned to Imphal today as the last seven days or so have not yielded any positive development. Speaking to newsmen at her Uripok Yambem Leikai residence this evening, the woman who has gone through sleepless nights and anxious moments said the abductors have so far not spelt out the reason why her husband was kidnapped at gunpoint. Appealing to the captors for the safe release of her husband, Niroda also asked to furnish the reason behind the abduction of her husband. Confirming that her family had requested the State Government not to launch an all out rescue operations as they feared for the safety. Niroda however said the responsibility of the securing the release of her husband lies with the State and Central Government. He was on duty when he was abducted, she reminded. To a question Niroda said her family has nothing against the security measures taken up after the abduction but added that she will ask the Chief Minister what steps have been initiated by the Government to secure the release of her husband. Niroda is slated to meet the Chief Minister tomorrow. Stating that her husband is a diabetic, the woman who has undergone severe stress appealed to the abductors to regularly give him medical check ups. Appreciating the appeals of the Chandel people for the safe release of her husband, Niroda further appealed to them to extend their encouragement. She appealed to the people not to whip up communal tensions over the issue. Meanwhile meira paibis of Uripok Yambem Leikai will stage a three day sit-in-protest from tomorrow to appeal for the safe release of Thamkishore. If no positive responses comes then the women will proceed to Chandel HQ to continue their dharna there.
