NEW DELHI, Dec 5 ? Despite India furnishing a list of 195 terrorist camps of various proscribed outfits operating in Bangladesh, there has been no response from Dhaka in dismantling them, a top BSF official said today, reports PTI.
"We have already furnished a list of 195 training camps to Bangladesh authorities which are located in their territory. But as of now it appears that they have done little to dismantle them and the terror infrastructure exists as before," BSF Director General Ajai Raj Sharma told PTI here. Sharma said infiltration continues through the porous borders and the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) despite its efforts have by and large been unsuccessful in containing the same.
However, Bangladesh denies existence of any terrorist camps on its soil and instead has alleged that Indian soil was being used by those terrorist outfits outlawed in Bangladesh. Sharma also came down heavily on the Bangaldesh media for "its absurd reporting" on BSF mobilising additional forces on the Indo-Bangla border.
"In fact it is the other way round, we have moved some troops from this frontier elsewhere. What is intriguing is why they are publishing lies," he said. Bangladesh is believed to be a conduit of arms supplies to various Indian insurgent groups. Weapons imported from third countries by sea to Chittagong and Cox Bazar costal belts are ferried cross-country to places like Sylhet, Maulavi Bazaar, Habibgunj and Chittagong Hill Tracts where most of these camps are located, according to official sources here.
ULFA's chief of operations Paresh Barua lives in Dhaka while Anup Chetia, the outfit's General Secretary, is lodged in the Dhaka central jail after being convicted of possessing a false passport, the sources said. The mushrooming of Islamic terrorist outfits like Harkat-ul-jehadi-Islam, Sahadat Al Hikma and their activities pose a defeinite threat to the security and stability of India, they said.
India has made it clear that it was ready for a joint operation for an inspection on its soil to ascertain Bangladesh's allegation that its soil was being used for activities against the country, the sources said. India has been erecting fence along the Indo-Bangla border at least 150 yards away from the Zero Line as both the nations have an agreement of having no defensive projects within this territory, they added.
