KARIMGANJ, May 18 ? The Dimasa extremist organisation the Dima Halong Daogah (DHD) is now creating terror in the northern parts of Cachar district especially in the foot of Borail hills. Santosh Mohan Deb, MP has requested the govt of Assam to start Army operations under unified command to control the activities of the outfit. In a press meet organised at his Silchar residence recently Deb expressed concern over the terror created by DHD extremists in the peaceful district of Assam. ?If the State or Central government do not take any preventive measures against DHD then a day will come when Silchar will be a target of the extremists,? he said. In this connection he recalled the recent incidents which had occurred in Taligram and Guabari villages of Cachar by the DHD and said such types of attacks by the DHD group may take of serious turn in maintaining peace and integrity in Cachar. He also pointed out that he suggested for commencing Army operations against the extremists in Jaypur-Rajbazar areas of this district, which was initially criticised by a section of people but later his suggestion was hailed by the common people. He informed that he had visited Taligram and Guabari and held discussions with the victims and later he instructed the concerned authority to provide help by the way of constructing houses under IAY. Deb requested the police administration to take up immediate action against the extremists and commence joint operation of police and army in Taligram and Guabari areas.
