IMPHAL, Feb 13 ? Differences have surfaced among partners of the opposition Democratic People?s Alliance in Manipur over fielding of common candidates in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, reports PTI. DPA sources said today that all the constituents of the DPA were prepared to field their own candidates in the coming elections in the state?s two constituencies ? Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur.
While Manipur People?s Party (MPP) would put up present legislator Nimaichand Luwang in Inner Manipur, Federal Party of Manipur (FPM) wanted its President Leisangthem Chandramani as its candidate in the same constituency, the sources said. State BJP unit also wanted to field its President Th Chaoba Singh in the Inner Manipur parliamentary constituency.
MPP Chief O Joy singh told reporters yesterday that all out effort would be made to seek support of Luwang?s candidature from DPA partners. DPA sources said its partners were also making efforts to field their own candidates in Outer Manipur constituency as they had not so far met to discuss over fielding common candidates in any seat. DPA comprised FPM-13, MPP-2, BJP-4 and Manipur National ist Congress in the 60-member Manipur assembly.
