Imphal, March 07: The Democratic People's Party, DPP with two representatives in the state Assembly, has joined the Democratic People's Alliance. The convener of the DPA, Dr L Chandramani of the FPM in a statement said that the alliance has accepted the conditions submitted by the DPP, namely, preservation of the territorial integrity and unity of Manipur, protection of human rights and withdrawal of the proclamation of disturb area from the state under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958. Due weightage will be given to the DPP in the working of the alliance, he said. A joint meeting of the Democratic People's Alliance, DPA, comprising of the leaders of legislature parties and elected MLAs of BJP, SAP, MPP, FPM and DPP was held today. The meeting expressed its gratitude to the DPP for giving a positive response to the call by the DPA to join the alliance. It also co-opted president of DPP, and the two elected members of the party to the co-ordinating committee of the alliance, the release said. Udoy Thongam, and RK Anand of the DPP were also appointed as joint convener and member.
