DRPP formally joins DAP

Imphal, December 08: In a recent political development, the DRPP has joined the Democratic People's Alliance after parting from the Secular People's Front. This was formally announced in a press conference held at the Manipur Press Club this afternoon. The press conference was attended by leaders of the DPA besides DRPP leaders. The leader of opposition RK Dorendra Singh, MPP leader O Joy Singh, BJP leader M Bhorot, FPM leaderL Ibomcha, Nilachandra MLA, Dr L Chandramani were among DPA leaders who addressed the press conference welcoming the DRPP into the DPA fold. RK Anand, DRPP's spokesman while addressing the media said that their party was committed to fight against oppression by the government by using the Armed Forces Special Power Act. He the termed the leaving of same MLAs after being elected on the party's ticket unfortunate while stating that party's agenda remains unchanged. RK Anand said that DRPP as a party was pleased by the wisdom of the Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who categorically stated his mind regarding me territorial boundaries of the states his last visit to Kohima. He said that the DRPP is also committed to work under a common minimum programme with the DPA. The leader of the opposition RK Dorendra was of the view that the BJP would come out victorious in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections judging from the recent political development in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhatisgarh where the BJP has swept the state assembly polls. He charged the present SPF ministry led by O Ibobi of being inefficient in managing the state's financial matters and in maintaining law and order bringing the state to a hopeless situation. While welcoming DRPP into the DPA fold of the state's political arena, RK Dorendra said that accepting MLAs from DRPP is unethical as it was agreed to discourage breaking up of small parties.
