Eco-friendly complexes on anvil in Tripura

AGARTALA, Jan 3 — In a holistic approach to meet the demand of the time and utilise the new inventions in the architectural science, Tripura Government has decided to set up eco-friendly official complexes with state-of-the-art buildings in all the four districts of the State. An official source in the Public Works Department said, the envisaged buildings and complex will not only be a placed to admire but will also be in complete harmony with the natural surroundings of Tripura. He said, upcoming Dhalai district headquarters complex at Jawaharnagar in Ambassa will accommodate all the 31 government departments of the executive, police and judiciary. Estimated cost of the complex at initial stage is about Rs 22 crore. The Finance Commission has already sanctioned Rs 10 crore for the purpose. One of the most remarkable constructions envisaged is the “Durbar Hall” at Governor’s House to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.5 crore. The Durbar will consist of an octagonal building with dining, reception, parking and other facilities. Reputed builders of Kolkata, Ghose, Bose and Associates who had earlier constructed magnificent ADC headquarters building at Khumulwng, was entrusted with the task. Among other buildings on anvil are new convention complex at Gurkhabasti in Agartala and a modern state-of-the-art Tripura University library building at Surjamani Nagar near the capital.
