GUWAHATI, April 4 – Environ, a revolutionary group advocating conservation, management and utilisation of nature and natural resources of the North East, will carry out a survey of the region’s natural resources and develop the concept of resource utilisation through tree plantation, development of eco-tourism, fisheries and other agricultural activities.
The aim of the survey is to ensure proper utilisation of every bit of land and human resource to make the region self-dependent as far as possible.
Environ president Amarjyoti Kashyap said that the group would also take active part to make Guwahati clean and green. The group has come out with some innovative ideas of garbage management doing away with the problem of garbage disposal. The idea, if implemented will instead generate revenue. The group would also carry out a drive to plant trees all over the city, especially the economically exploitable variety.
Creation of a work culture and a concept of self-dependence, especially among the students, would also be an area of activity for the group. Proper utilisation of the resources of the region would help solve the unemployment problem in the region, felt Kashyap. Environ would also create general awareness against food and drug adulteration, unscientific disposal of medical waste and improper utilisation of public property, he said.
