Fitting tributes paid to Arambam Somorendra

Imphal, June 10: The 4th death anniversary of Arambam Somorendra was successfully observed in different parts of the State today under the guidance of Arambam Somorendra Memorial Trust. As a part of the observation, 4th Arambam Somorendra Memorial Observation Committee 2004 Wangkhei also observed the death anniversary by organizing a function at Wangkhei Puja Lampak. The function was attended by former Director of DDK Imphal N Pahari, observation committee chairman Sh Shamu and N Amurei Rtd Director Eco and Statistics Dept, W Tomchou Singh Rtd additional Director of Education (SIE) as the chief guest, president and guest of honour. Speaking at the function, Pahari said that late Arambam Somorendra was a social worker who worked heart and soul for the upliftment of the Manipuri society. He also said that the youth of present day should look up to him as a role model and help in transforming society which is in a very bad state. Appealing to the people to wake up and work for making Manipur a better place to live in, he said that unity and peaceful coexistence among the different communities residing in the State is the need of the hour. Floral tributes, prayers and patriotic songs marked the function. Spot painting competitions, symposium, song competitions were also organized by various organizations in the different parts of the State today to mark the 4th death anniversary of Arambam Somorendra. Organizations and social bodies which observed the death anniversary in different parts of the State today are as follows: Cheibi Association Manipur and Royal Council, Joint DM College Students Union, Sagolband Apunba Lamjing Nupi Lup, Sagolband Nepra Menjor Pukhrimapal, Manipur University Students Union, Aryan Theatre Imphal, Royal Theatrical Club Elangbam Leikai, Arambam Somorendra Anniversary Observation Committee, Arambam Somorendra Anniversary Observation Committee Thanga, Green Friends Union and Leimaren Leisham, United People United Council, All Yairipok United Clubs Organization, Arambam Somorendra Ningshing Committee Ningthoukhong etc.
