NEW DELHI, July 11 ? Stepping up pressure for removal of State Governor VC Pande, a delegation of MLAs from Arunachal Pradesh led by former Chief Minister and State Congress president Mukut Mithi today had a meeting with Congress leaders, including Oscar Fernandes, reports PTI. After the meeting Mithi told reporters that he had submitted a first hand account of his interactions with State Governor VC Pande. He claimed that the Governor had sent two different versions of his report regarding the political situation in the State.
The delegation is likely to meet Home Minister Shivraj Patil. The State unit of Congress yesterday had termed Pande as ?sick and physically unfit? and demanded imposition of President?s rule even as the State government ordered an inquiry into the ?unsavoury situation? at Raj Bhawan on July 7.
The Governor?s ADC SC Pachauli was suspended for allegedly being ?tipsy? on the day when the Governor was reportedly gheraoed by MLAs. Mithi had told a press conference at Guwahati before leaving for New Delhi to discuss the political crisis in his State with the Congress high command that ?the Governor?s frequent change in stand and his loss of memory proves that he is physically unfit and sick and thus he has to be removed.?
?I have a feeling that he is very sick and suffering from memory loss syndrome and cannot apply wisdom required in such a top post,? Mithi, a former Chief minister, said. Mithi said he would press the Congress high command for imposition of President?s rule as under the Gegong Apang-led ministry ?free and fair? Assembly elections could not be held.
