ITANAGAR, February 4: The Centre has agreed to provide Rs 32 crore for development of horticulture in Arunachal Pradesh which has the ideal agro-climatic condition in this regard, State Horticulture Minister Zapu Deru said on Saturday. The State Government, in collaboration with NGOs, would work towards implementing the horticulture projects, Deru said while inaugurating an office campus of the Agro-Gramin United (AGUN), a non-government organisation here, reports PTI. Deru said his department had planted altogether 80,000 apple saplings in West Kameng district with the help of marginal farmers. The apple saplings were brought from Himachal Pradesh and scientists and experts from that State had visited the area to offer expertise. Deru called upon the NGOs to come forward in creating the awareness among the people about such projects to make the horticulture more popular in the State. Takam Sora, youngest member of Arunachal Pradesh Assembly spoke on the occasion.
