IMPHAL, March 11 (NEPS) – Amid severe criticism from the opposition - Democratic People’s Alliance, the first anniversary of the Secular Progressive Front government led by the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh was held at the outhouse of the Manipur Chief Minister’s official residence on Monday afternoon.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister released a booklet highlighting the achievement of his government which came into power on March 7 last year. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister Okram who also holds home portfolio reiterated his appeals to the anti-socials and insurgent outfits not to disturb the developmental activities of his government.
The Chief Minister who also holds planning portfolio said that his government is giving its trusts on the developmental activities. The booklet mentions that the police and security forces killed 67 insurgents of various outfits last year and 869 rebels were arrested. One hundred forty nine rebels of various outfits also surrendered to the government authorities during the same period. On the financial front, the booklet states that the government has obtained a medium term loan of Rs 371 crore from the Central government during the same year.
Manipur Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ph Parijat, Power Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, High Education Minister Th Meinya and others were among the ministers attended in the function. Only mediamen were invited for the function. The SPF ministry comprises Congress, CPI and Manipur People’s Party. The lone sitting MLA of the Manipur National Conference O Natum also extended support to the Front Ministry. In the sixty member Manipur Legislative Assembly, the SPF ministry has the strength of 41 legislators.
