IFCI keen to invest in Tripura

AGARTALA, April 15: Institutional Finance Corporation of India Ltd (IFCI) has shown keen interest in investment in Tripura for industrialisation. Deputy general manager of the Institutional Finance Corporation of India Ltd (IFCI) AK Das on a four-day tour to study the prospect of industrialisation has assured financial help to the Tripura government and the entrepreneurs eager to set up industrial units in the state. Das called on the Industries Minister at secretariat Thursday and during the meeting Kar is learnt to have told the IFCI DGM that Tripura is rich with vast natural resources but for the financial crunch the industries are not coming up in the State to tap the resources. Main problem is poor infrastructure and communication bottleneck, he said. However, it expected that if the passage is given to Tripura through Bangladesh the communication problems could be overcome to a great extent, observed the minister. The IFCI DGM has assured the State government that his organisation is keen to invest in the state. Das said during the stay here he would meet the intending entrepreneurs and others concerned and discuss the potentialities. He is reported to have expressed special interest in developing tourism industries in the State. Later, the IFCI DGM held talks with the entrepreneurs and tried to understand their problems and interest-sectors. It is learnt that the entrepreneurs have told the executive that if his organisation extends financial assistance then many more sectors can be explored for industrialisation in the State. They have also expressed interest in the gas-based industries in Tripura.
