INPT to launch State-wide stir from May

AGARTALA, April 10 ? The Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT), an ally of opposition Congress has decided to launch State-wide agitation from May first week on various burning issues. INPT general secretary Rabindra Debbarma said, a delegation would visit New Delhi in the second week of the next month to give a deputation on more power to the ADC, law and order situation of the State and solution to the tribal problems. The INPT team will include among others party?s advisory committee chairman Shyamcharan Tripura Harinath Debbarma, Bijoy Hrangkhawl, Rabindra Debbarma, CEM of ADC KM Reang and EM Sridam Debbarma. The INPT meet has also decided to form a administrative reforms committee with a retired IAS officer as chairman. The other members of the committee would be Shyamacharan Tripura and NC Debbarma. The meeting while criticising the government for initiating ?fabricated cases? against three ADC executive members Mulkehand Debbarma, Binoy Debbarma and Krishnakanta Jamatia said such steps are politically motivate and ?undemocratic?. INPT general secretary said, the party will start its agitational programme on 22 point charter of demand and protesting State government?s total failure to provide food, work, health services to the people and police atrocities on the opposition workers. Rabindra Debbarma has also strongly condemned the killing of INPT worker Sachindra Debbarma by the CPM backed extremists. He demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and expressed condolence to the bereaved family. Ultra killed : One militant has been killed and three other arrested by the 22 Battalion Assam Rifles at Bharat Choudhurypara under Salema police station on April 9. An Assam Rifles statement claimed the militants belonged to NLFT organisation. The security forces carried out a search operation acting on a tip off about the movement of the militants at the area. It was reported that the militants were extorting money from the villagers. During operation, the militants opened fire at the troops and an encounter ensued. As the forces retaliated heavily, one militant was killed on the spot. Three more were arrested and an AK 47 rifle, three magazines, one grenade incrimination documents were also recovered from the spot. The incident took place at around 12 pm on Wednesday. The fire fight continued for about 45 minutes, said the statement. The Assam Rifle are currying out search operation for the fleeing militants. The killing and arrest of the militants is a major achievement on the part of the Assam Rifles in recent past. In the meantime, one more encounter has been reported from Lakhanipara under Ambassa police station in the same Dhalai district. The NLFT militants opened fire at a group of Special Police Officers when they were carrying out a search operation.
