KAAC officials visit flood-hit areas

DONGKAMOKAM, Nov 7 ? Khorsing Engti, Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Bajong Tisso, Deputy Chairman, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and Sing Teron, Executive Member (EM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), visited the flood-affected areas to assess the magnitude of loss in the recent flood wave in west Karbi Anglong.

It is to be noted that in the recent floods, hundreds of families of West Karbi Anglong under Baithalangso and Kheroni police stations were rendered homeless and almost all the major roads were damaged. Due to heavy landslides on all the roads linking Hamren Town, it was cut off from the other parts of the district. This has led to acute shortage of foodgrains and eatables.

On the other hand, many flood victims alleged that even after a gap of a forthnight since the floods ravaged the areas, this has been the maiden time that Khorsing Engti, CEM, KAAC, who is also in-charge of PWD, visited the flood-affected areas that too without offering any help to the marooned people. They further said that Tarendra Barahamo, EM, KAAC, in-charge of flood control, has not visited these areas.

It is learnt from reliable sources that the CEM, the Deputy Chairman and the EM, KAAC, took stock of the flood-affected areas and will hold a meeting at Diphu to chalk-out strategy to relieve the marooned people.
