Imphal, January 07: The biggest festival of the Inpui Kabui, Naga Council the 'Karing Ngai' was celebrated at the Kabui Inpui Baptist Church Compound at Tamenglong yesterday. Chairman of the Tamenglong unit of Inpui Kabui, Naga Council, K Thuikhomang attended the festival as the chief guest. Around 120 people turned up for the function which was organized by the Tamenglong unit of the Inpui Kabui, Naga Council. The festival was also celebrated at other villages inhabited by the Inpui Kabui. From next the main festival will be held at Tamenglong. Inpui Kabui was part of the Zeliangrong tribe but they broke away this year after declaring themselves a distinct tribe from Zeliangrong community. Memoranda to this effect have already been submitted to Naga civil organizations, including the UNC. Mail woes: The Zeliangrong Students' Union, Tamenglong has warned that they would be constrained to take up stern agitation if the mail service at Tamenglong is not resumed immediately. Mail service at Tamenglong snapped from December 23 last year. The last mail received at Tamenglong was on December 22 while the last mail to depart was December 23. The student body said mail service in Tamenglong has been erratic for a long time and memorandum was even submitted to the Director of Postal Services at Imphal in August last year. When this correspondent contacted the Sub-Post Master on the matter, he informed that the vehicle which carries the mail has stopped plying. He further said that he is not in a position to right the shortcomings adding that it is the responsibility of the authority at Imphal to take up the necessary action.
