LK Advani instructs Koijam against jumbo sized ministry

IMPHAL, February 15: Home Minister LK Advani has instructed Radhabinod Koijam not go in for a jumbo sized ministry and to keep the ministry at its optimum level only in view of the acute financial crunch. Speaking to The Sangai Express this evening the newly sworn in Chief Minister said that the Union Home Minister also advised him not to induct any tainted Ministers including those against who are accused of having nexus with militants. Koijam further said the Centre is keen that Ministers embroiled in corruption charges should not be inducted into the Council of ministers. Koijam in response to a query, said it would be difficult to filter the Ministers at an early date. When queried about the expansion of the ministry, Radhabinod Koijam said the final decision will be taken only after due consultations with the Central leadership and due clearance from the Centre. Koijam said he would either have to leave for Delhi to consult with the central leadership or Delhi may send their representatives to work things out. Meanwhile a meeting of the six party People's Front was held this evening at the at Speaker's bungalow to chart out the best possible of seat allocations. Radhabinod Koijam also attended the meeting. Sources said members of the alliance urged the Chief Minister to induct the 28 MLAs who have been camping at the Speaker's bungalow. Radhabinod however desisted from giving any assurances and refrained from passing any comment, the source added. He merely said the proposal of the PF members would be considered. Samata Party, secretary Shambu Shrivastava left Imphal today after the swearing in.
