IMPHAL, February 11: The Miss Kangleipak Chanu, 2001 will be held on March 8 in connection with the International Women's Day at the Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre. This was announced by Vishwamitra, advisor of the United Trading Company Limited, which is organizing the beauty pageant, at a press conference held in the conference hall of Imphal Cable Network, Maan Pasand building here this morning. Vishwamitra said that the company has been planning to organise Miss Kangleipak Chanu contest since 1999. As per an agreement, it was decided that there should be only one state level beauty-pageant in Manipur in a year. FABECO was to organise it in 2000, UTCL in the current year and TAPRO next year. However, due to certain difficulties, FABECO could not conduct the Miss Manipur, 2000 contest in time and held it this year. As a matter of fact, the year 2001 is the turn of UTCL to organise the pageant, the advisor clarified and appealed to the public not to misconstrue the organisers when they organise Miss Kangleipak Chanu, 2001 just after the recent Miss Manipur, 2000. Describing the schedule of the beauty contest, Vishwamitra told newsmen that a workshop on Manipur Phaneks will be conducted on March 1. The Part-I of the contest which will decide best photogenic, best hair-style, best smile sub-titles will be held on March 2. The Part-II of Miss Kangleipak Chanu, 2001 which will be held on March 3 will select the sub-title winners of best imaginative, best love and affection for children. The selection of best designer and other remaining sub-titles will be held in Part-III of the contest on March 4 and on March 6, all the contestants will have a grueling rehearsal schedule for the finale on March 7, Vishwamitra told the newsmen.
