GUWAHATI, July 10 ? Stepping up his campaign against Governor V C Pande, Arunachal Pradesh Congress chief Mukut Mithi today demanded his immediate removal as he was 'sick and physically unfit' and imposition of President's Rule in the State. "The Governor's frequent change in stand and his loss of memory proves that he is physically unfit and sick and thus he has to be removed," Mithi told a press conference here before leaving for New Delhi to discuss the political crisis in the State with the Congress high command.
"I have a feeling that he is very sick and suffering from memory loss syndrome and cannot apply wisdom required in such a top post," Mithi said. The post of Governor is respected but Pandey's recent activities had erased all goodwill associated with the gubernatorial job, he said. Mithi said he would press the Congress high command for imposition of President's Rule as under the Apang-led ministry there could not be a free and fair Assembly election.
Meanwhile, a report from Itanagar adds that Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang today pooh poohed the threat of agitation by Congress leader Mukut Mithi to demand removal of Governor V C Pande and imposition of President's Rule in the State. Apang said, "ours is a democratic country. Any party or organisation can chalk out any programme democratically. But if the Congress or some other politicians agitate without any valid reason, they will make themselves a laughing stock."
