New Delhi, Feb. 10: Union minister for the Northeast and small-scale industry C.P. Thakur today released a concept paper on human resource development in the service industry, prepared by the Mizoram government with focus on ?Employment generation and entrepreneurship.?
?This is for the first time that such an initiative has been taken to enlighten the youth of the northeastern region, particularly the youth from Mizoram, where vast opportunities exist. Human resources are among the most productive and highly-contributing sectors to economic and social progress of any country. This conclave hopefully would be the first step in this direction,? said Thakur, addressing a gathering on ?Opportunities for Northeast youth in the service industry.?
The conclave, attended by secretary of the Northeast department Atul Sinha and Mizoram industry and information technology minister K. Thangzuala, was organised by the Chandigarh-based Forum of Educators and Scholars of Tourism. The concept paper cites the example of advanced economies such as Switzerland, France, Singapore and Hong Kong, where ?high-quality skilled human resources? have been developed.
