Mizoram ready to face any seismic attack

AIZAWL, June 10 ? The Mizoram Government has made elaborate arrangements to prepare for any eventuality that might arise in case of a strong earthquake hitting the State, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Aichhinga told the State Assembly, reports PTI. In a written reply to a query from R Lalzirliana of Congress, Aichhinga said that even though there was no prediction that earthquake would rock Mizoram in immediate future, preparations were made as the region lies in Earthquake Zone 5, the most quake-prone zone of all. He said experts had predicted that disaster management committees have been constituted in Aizawl and in all the eight districts, he said. He also said that a disaster management plan was being prepared and government agencies like police, home guards, health and others have been imparted training in mitigating disasters that could happen in case of an earthquake in the region.
