Imphal, December 28: Taking serious note of alarming rise in corruption cases in the State permanent body of Manipur Peoples' Liberation Front (MPLF) it is product of long existence under India's colonial rule. Corruption today has risen to such an alarming proportion that people consider it as an indispensable part of every day life, said the MPLF statement. Government employees who do not accept bribe is considered unacceptable in the present context of the society, mocked MPLF while attributing the menace to prolong domination of India and the root cause to systems adopted by it to subdue genuine voices of the people. Corruption is not a disease but a symptom of it for whose spread India is responsible. To usher in a quality education in Manipur punishment to department officials, students and agents is not the only measure available at people's disposal to rectify it but a critical approach to the contents of text books prescribed by the education policy of India. Replacing the mainland oriented syllabi with regional and locally significant subjects is the call of the hour which none should neglect, suggested the revolutionary body consisting of RPF, UNLF and PREPAK. Overhauling the system not only requires Herculean effort from all sections of the society but stress on improving the economic condition to stand on its own feet should be given utmost priority, said the statement. Emphasis should be laid on finding flaws for the rapid erosion of standard of education in the State from all aspect before extreme decision like execution are adopted, highlighted MPLF on KYKL's resolution to give death sentence to six persons involved in corrupt practice. Instead of striking at the root cause, exterminating its symptom will only encourage India to expand their sinister agenda, confuse the people and act as a deterrent to the revolutionary movement, said MPLF.
