MPP to file case against four defecting MLAs

IMPHAL, July 17: Manipur People's Party (MPP) president and sitting MLA Okram Joy has decided to file a disqualification case against four MPP MLAs who had joined the ruling Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) in an indecent haste. Sources said that this imminent court is without any prejudice to the ongoing hearings in the tribunal headed by chairman and Speaker Sapam Dhananjoy Singh against the 9 MLAs. The defeated Speaker Karam Badudhon Singh had 'recognised' the split of the parties despite the fact that he had no power to do so. However, the merger order had been signed by the in cumbent Speaker. Joy has decided to approach the High Court. Meanwhile, the High Court has started hearing the case against four NCP MLAs on the basis of the complaint filed by the president RK Nokulsana.
