MULTA active in Barak Valley

BADARPUR, May 24 ? Entire Barak Valley in Southern Assam is now being hit by the activities of Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA), which has become a matter of deep concern for all sections of the peoples. The Cachar police has already arrested eight doubtful persons along with a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from Kanakpur Khalerpar area of Cachar district last Saturday night, in connection with various anti-social activities. From this incident, Cachar Police has drawn a clear picture that these eight arrested are undoubtedly members of the fundamentalist militant groups under MULTA. It?s a matter of deep concern that among these eight, one person is close to Anwar Hussain Laskar (Rana), MLA of Sonai LAC. It also seems that the Gang leader or the principal commander of the militant organization, Deprived Indigenous Liberation Azind (DILA), Tamijuddin, who is also an ex-police personnel, has not yet been held by the police, terrifying the entire Barak Valley. Sources said, a large number of militant members of MULTA has already entered various places in the Barak Valley and are fully ready to create incidents of sabotage throughout the valley. Talking to newspersons, Cachar police superintendent, Sri Atul Chandra Hazarika said some wayward persons are creating various types of anti-social activities by changing the acronym ?MULTA?. A reliable source has also come to know that this ?MULTA? group had assembled together at a close door meeting at Marigaon district of Brahmaputra Valley recently and took a resolution to strengthen their organization in each and every district of Assam. Cachar Police suspect there must be sympathetic persons in a section of Cachar district, who have close relations with the MULTA, to help spread their activities throughout the Barak Valley. Meanwhile, during the operation last Saturday night in Kanakpur-Khalerpar area, police arrested Ranku Bar Laskar, Rafique Uddin, Ranjit Bhuiya, Saifuddin (Molla), Sahab Uddin, Uttam Dey, Mazibur Rahman Bhuiya, and the person with access to the Sonai MLA, Anowar Hussain Laskar, Najrul Islam (Maju). Police recovered one stengun, pistols, two pipeguns, two kukries, and few rounds of ammunition. Police also recovered one motor cycle, belonging to Babar Laskar, brother of Sonai MLA, Anowar Hussain Laskar. All political parties have already expressed deep concern at the increasing activities of the MULTA. They urged the Government and also the administration to take necessary steps against perpetrators of these incidents. Eminent AGP leader Animul Haque Laskar has also urged the Government and also the administration to immediately arrest Sonai MLA, Anowar Hussain Laskar, who is allegedly involved with ?MULTA?. The Assam PHE Minister Dinesh Prasad Gowala, addressing a press conference at Silchar Wednesday said that the eight ultras arrested from Kanakpur-Khalerpar area were not at all ?MULTA? ultras but a gang of anti-socials. Minister Gowala also said that strict order has been given to the police for taking necessary action against each and every person including ex-police personnel ?Tamijuddin?, for breaking law-and-order in the valley. After the ministerial order, police arrested another extremist, Faruk Uddin Laskar, from Udharband area, who is a close-helper of Tamijuddin. Police also arrested another three persons, taking the total to 12. Presently, top officials of BSF intelligence branch and police-detective officials are jointly questioning them round-the-clock.
