NE Anglo-Indian Association formed

GUWAHATI, July 3 ? During the recent visit of Mr Denzil B Atkinson, MP (nominated Anglo-Indian) to Imphal, Shillong and Guwahati, local Anglo-Indian called on him and discussed the needs of the community in the North East a press release said. At the instance of Mr Atkinson, the Anglo-Indian Association, North East was launched recently Rev Thomas Menanparambil, Archbishop of Guwahati and other religious leaders expressed their happiness on the formation of the association. Mr Allen Brookes, of Guwahati was nominated the pro-tem president. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Atkinson spoke at length on the difficulties being faced by the community throughout the country. He was hopeful that the NDA government would restore, even partially, the facilities that were once available to the Anglo-Indian under Art 336 and 337 of the Constitution, as early as by the end of July 2002.
