SHILLONG, Dec 17 ? The North Eastern Council (NEC) sanctioned for release Rs 50.30 crore to the eight North Eastern States, including Sikkim, in November last for implementing various schemes.
It has further accorded administrative approval to schemes worth Rs 38.71 crore during the same period, according to NEC sources. Arunachal Pradesh has been given a grant of Rs. 11.07 crore as grant and a loan of Rs.1.23 crore to meet expenditures on NEC plan schemes during the third quarter of the 2004-05 financial year.
Sanctions for other NE states are : Assam-Rs.28.17 crores and Rs.3.13 crores; Meghalaya- Rs.11.01 crores and Rs.1.22 crore; Mizoram- Rs.19.35 crores and Rs.2.15 crores; Nagaland- Rs.7.20 crores and Rs.0.80 crore; Sikkim- Rs.1.80 crore and Rs.0.20 crore; Tripura-Rs.1.80 crore and Rs.0.20 crore.
NEC has also given administrative approval of Rs.15 lakh as well as sanction for payment of Rs.12 lakhs to Kaziranga Centenary Celebration Committee, Assam, for organizing centenary celebrations of the famed Kaziranga Park. The Phase II of the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) project in Guwahati , which is an NEC plan scheme has been favoured with a grant of Rs.1.80 crore besides a loan of Rs.20 lakhs. The project is being executed by the Government of Assam.
Sanction has been given to Border Roads Development Board, Government of India, for incurring expenditure up to Rs.100 lakhs during 2004-05 on roads of inter-state and economic importance.
