NECCI to hold interaction with NRIs from Assam

GUWAHATI, Dec 12 ? North East Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with Prabasi Asomiya Sanmilan is organising an interaction summit with the NRI?s from Assam at Administrative Staff College, Khanapara, here from January 17 to 18, stated a release.

The main objective of the summit is to provide a platform for an interaface between the residents of the State and the non-residents who either stay in any other part of the country or in foreign land.

Meanwhile, the non-resident has a very important role to play. His intervention may be either in the form of investible funds, intellectual input or direct entrepreneurial participation. The quantum of capital entering the State must be raised manifold and at the same time the present flight of capital from the State must be arrested. All of this is not possible without the help of external forces, as here; we are looking at a situation where capital deficiency and entrepreneurial shortcomings are two among the most acute problems afflicting the State. The Non-resident is therefore enjoined upon to make a positive contribution, as per his capacity, by becoming a stakeholder ? one among many, the release said.

The areas where their contribution can be utilised are quality education, investment in the primary sector, real-estate and urban development. Tourism, agro-processing, pharmaceuticals and process industries to name a few. As the non resident is in a position to leverage his skill, resources and connections to usher in an era of sustained prosperity, the stage would then be set for a meaningful and fruitful dialogue and to chalk out a viable strategy for the development of this region.
