NEEPCO celebrates 29th anniversary

GUWAHATI, April 7 – The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd. (NEEPCO) celebrated the 29th anniversary of its establishment as NEEPCO Day on April 2 last. Held at corporate headquarters, the NEEPCO Day function was largely attended by the employees along with their families and guests. This was stated in a press release.

The function started with hoisting of NEEPCO Flag by SC Sharma, chairman-cum-managing director, followed by guard of honour. Dedicating the NEEPCO flag, Sharma urged the employees to renew their commitment to responsibly harness the power potential of the north-eastern region for socio-economic development of the region and the country as a whole and make sure that the NEEPCO flag flies high.

The ceremonial function was inaugurated by Sharma by lighting the auspicious lamp. Addressing the employees on the occasion, Sharma highlighted the performance of NEEPCO during the financial year 2003-2004 registering an increase of generation by 40%, sales by 60% and revenue collection by 90%. He also congratulated the employees for their exemplary performance resulting in successful turn around of the Company by posting a profit of Rs. 160 crore form a loss of Rs 408 crore during the financial year 2002– 2003.

The occasion was also marked by disbursement of an amount of Rs. 44 lakh as compensation amongst beneficiaries under NEEPCO Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme besides presentation of NEEPCO Day memento to all the employees of the Corporation. The Chairman & Managing Director also presented the best O&M Project Award for the year 2003 - 2004 to Agartala Gas Turbine Power Project for achieving 111% power generation against the target specified in the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Power, Government of India and NEEPCO. Sri RP Sharma, Director (Technical) and Sri MR Ghosh, Director (Finance) also addressed the employees on the occasion besides other speakers.
